The Homeostasis Foundation has been accepted into Google for Nonprofits
I opened my mailbox and saw an email from Google. For a moment, I paused when I saw the subject line because I immediately knew what it was about. We had submitted an application for Google for Nonprofits, and finally, the answer had arrived. With a little bit of excitement, I opened the email. And there it was: the message we had been hoping for. "The Homeostasis Foundation has been accepted into Google for Nonprofits."
Moments like these make me realize how many steps we have taken over the past few years. At first glance, being accepted into a digital program may not seem like a major milestone, but for us it represents so much more. It is a confirmation that, behind the scenes, we are continuing to build a strong foundation for our organization. When people look at a foundation, they often see the projects, activities, and stories that we share publicly. But behind every initiative, there is so much more happening. There are systems to manage, administration, communication, and ways to collaborate effectively. These invisible parts are what allow an organization to continue growing.
When we started The Homeostasis Foundation, we mainly had a mission and a desire to contribute something meaningful to society. Over the years, we have learned more and more about what it takes to build an organization that can grow sustainably. An important part of this journey has been learning how to use our resources wisely. As a foundation, we want to be intentional with every euro that comes in. When we can reduce costs by using programs designed for nonprofit organizations, it means more resources can go toward our projects and the people we aim to support.
Over the past period, we have been blessed with several opportunities that have helped us grow.
Through TechSoup, our foundation was officially verified as a nonprofit organization. This gave us access to various programs and benefits specifically available for nonprofits. We are also incredibly grateful for Canva for Nonprofits, which allows us to use Canva Pro for free. This has been a great support in creating professional designs for our communication, social media, projects, and materials. We also received support through Wix for nonprofits, which helped us continue developing our website and our online presence. Our website is an important place where people can learn about our mission and discover the work we do.
And now we have been accepted into Google for Nonprofits. A new step that we are truly grateful for.
One of the first changes we were able to make was our business email.
Previously, we had a paid business email subscription through Wix. It worked well and helped us communicate professionally, but as a foundation we are always looking for ways to use our resources as effectively as possible. Through our acceptance into Google for Nonprofits, we were able to move to Google Workspace for Nonprofits and use a free professional email environment through Google.
Besides email, we were already using Google Docs and Google Drive for our documents and collaboration within the foundation. With Google Workspace for Nonprofits, we now have much more storage space, allowing us to better organize and preserve our files, photos, videos, and important documents.
For us, this is incredibly valuable. We work on different projects and collect a lot of materials over time. Having enough space and a structured system gives us peace of mind as we continue to grow.
Another exciting development is that we were able to connect our YouTube channel to our nonprofit account.
This connects beautifully with a part of our mission that we are currently investing more time in: helping people create more moments of calm in their daily lives. Through YouTube, we share meditation, relaxation, sleep music, and other content focused on wellbeing and balance.
We hope to reach more people through this platform and offer a small moment of peace in an often busy world.
Another opportunity we see great potential in is Google Ad Grants.
We have already submitted an application. At the moment, we are still working on some improvements to our website to make sure it fully meets Google’s requirements. We actually see this as a valuable opportunity. It encourages us to look critically at our website and continue improving it. A website is not only a place where information is shared; it is also a way to reach people who may be searching for exactly the kind of support, inspiration, or connection that we hope to provide. Once we are able to use Google Ad Grants, we believe it can become a valuable addition to our foundation. It can help us make our blogs, projects, videos, and initiatives visible to more people.
When I look back at our journey, I see how many small steps together can create something much bigger.
From starting the foundation, developing projects, building partnerships, and now creating a stronger digital foundation every step brings us closer to our mission. Being accepted into Google for Nonprofits is therefore not only about technology. It is about the opportunities these tools create. More room to grow. More opportunities to reach people. And more ability to focus our time and energy on what The Homeostasis Foundation exists for. We are grateful for this new step and excited to discover what these opportunities will bring in the future. Because ultimately, it is not about the programs or systems themselves. It is about what they make possible: continuing to build a world with more calm, connection, and wellbeing.
