A community garden full of life

At Communityhome Homeostasis, we believe it's important that our garden is not only a place for people, but also for animals. Through our gardening methods and small adjustments, we've noticed an increasing number of animals visiting us: birds, butterflies, bees, wasps, and other insects. It's wonderful to see the garden come to life and how these animals enrich it.

We do various things to attract and protect animals. For example, we put up nest boxes and provide food. We often make our own bird food in shapes or (peanut) garlands to hang in the trees. Every year when we clean out the nest boxes, we're delighted to find small nests; sometimes we even find broken eggs. Then we know the box has done its job.

We don't mow the grass completely short; this provides insects with a safe haven and ensures their food sources are preserved. We also sow and plant flowers that are attractive to bees, butterflies, and other insects. We also deliberately leave some fruit on the trees for the birds.

Through these simple actions, we create a garden that breathes life and where everyone, both humans and animals, can enjoy nature. The best part is that a vibrant garden not only brings joy to the animals, but also to us. A garden full of color, sound, and movement provides peace and inspiration.

This year, we hope to make the garden even more animal-friendly. How exactly? We don't know yet, but that will come with time. Step by step, with care and love, we'll make this place grow for everyone who lives there.

When I think back to four years ago, when I was drawing little house sparrows and dreaming of a garden like this, I can't help but smile. It seemed so far away then, and now I'm fortunate enough to see that dream come true.
