What a lovely day yesterday was! We organized a Neighborhood Day for the first time, and we were able to make many people happy, especially those who needed it most.
While it was raining heavily outside, we had a warm fire burning, and the house smelled of freshly baked apple pie, cake, small sausage rolls, and of course, wonderfully fragrant Douwe Egberts coffee. For those who didn’t drink coffee, we had delicious autumn tea varieties from Pickwick.
We knew only a few people would stop by, as we would later visit the others ourselves to deliver a small autumn package. Of course, I couldn’t resist taking a few photos of people. I always enjoy capturing memories every now and then.
During conversations in our living room, in our neighbors’ living rooms, and at people’s front doors, we discovered many more needs people were dealing with. By the end of the afternoon, our list was full of tasks that unfortunately couldn’t all be done during this Neighborhood Day. However, we do plan to check off all the tasks on this list in the coming months.
The tasks we were able to complete included doing groceries for several neighbors with limited mobility and offering a listening ear to those dealing with psychological, mental, and physical challenges.
This day was made so special thanks to the contribution of the Oranje Fonds and Douwe Egberts.
