Jantje Beton – National Outdoor Play Day 2023, What a Fun Day You Were!

And there came our pedagogical staff member again with another wonderful idea.

“Let’s take part in National Outdoor Play Day.”

“National Outdoor Play Day? What does that involve?” I asked enthusiastically.

Our pedagogical staff member explained that since 1994, there has been a day in the Netherlands every year, usually on the second Wednesday in June, when streets across the country are closed to traffic so children can play outside freely and safely.

“Are you joining in?” Then it’s a good idea to register your outdoor play activity on the Jantje Beton website. You’ll receive a banner, and their website also offers many useful tools and tips to help organize your own activity.

Of course, I was sold. After a fun brainstorming session, we decided to rent or buy traditional Dutch games that both young and old could enjoy. We also decided to end the day with a bingo.

All bingo prizes were received through sponsors, who are listed at the bottom of the page. We also received a subsidy from the municipality. In addition, we asked the people attending to bring something themselves.
